MEMPHIS, Tenn. -
Rising senior pitcher Brach Davis was selected to Team NECBL, the league's Commissioner Mario Tiani announced today. The team will take on Team USA--the USA Collegiate Baseball National Team-- Sun., July 5 at MerchantsAuto.Com Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. First pitch is scheduled for 2:45 p.m.
"We are obviously extremely proud of Brach and how he is performing this summer," said Tiger head coach Daron Schoenrock. "We know he will represent our program well."
One of three North Adams players to be named to the team, Davis has dominated the completion with a team-leading 0.86 ERA and .185 opponent's batting average in five starts for the North Adams Steeplecats. The southpaw from Southaven, Miss., is 2-1 and also paces the staff and NECBL with 36 strikeouts, while ranking second on the team with 31.1 innings. He has one complete-game victory to his credit and has allowed just three earned runs. Davis averages 10.34 strikeouts per nine innings, Davis has improved on every outing this summer beginning with an eight-strikeout, five-inning performance on Opening Day. He followed that outing up with five strikeouts in a six-inning appearance versus the Holyoke Blue Sox (June 11) and matched his eight-strikeout performance with eight K's in 6.1 innings against Newport (June 17). He fanned a career-high 10 to pick up his first win of the summer in a seven-inning outing vs. Lowell All-Americans (June 25). His last outing was perhaps his strongest as he put up a seven-inning complete game victory over Danbury on July 1. He struck out five and allowed just three hits in the game.
The USA Baseball National Team is made up of the top collegiate baseball players in the country and competes each summer in a schedule of exhibition games worldwide.
