July 17, 2009
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memmphis Baseball Camp Hosted by Germantown Parks & Recreation
University of Memphis baseball coach Daron Schoenrock and his staff will hold the program's fourth annual Tiger Baseball Camp in Germantown, July 20-23. The four-day affair will be held from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Cameron Brown Park, 8628 Farmington Blvd. Hosted by the City of Germantown Parks and Recreation Department, the camp is open to all campers ages 7-14. Campers will be grouped according to age and ability to ensure equal instruction. The Tigers coaching staff will instruct campers on the basic baseball fundamentals of hitting, defense and pitching. Children of all talents levels are encouraged to attend. The camp fee is $150. To register, go to www.germantown-tn.gov for online registration or come to the park Monday morning at 8:45 p.m. "We are excited to have the opportunity to have the University of Memphis coaching staff out to teach the youth of Germantown the game of baseball," said Germantown Sports Coordinator, Kevin Weaver. "This camp has grown the past three summers and that is a direct correlation to the quality of the instruction." The camp will feature outstanding instruction from the University of Memphis coaching staff, as well as Tiger players. Special importance will be placed on learning the fundamentals of the game, sportsmanship and team play. To guarantee adequate instruction and individual attention, players will be grouped according to age and ability in a low camper-to-coach ratio. Campers should bring baseball glove, hats, bats, pants, batting gloves, cleats or tennis shoes, water bottle and socks. Schoenrock and his staff finished the 2009 season with a 21-32 mark--a four-game improvement (in the win column) over the club's 2008 campaign.
