2010 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game Starting Lineup Get Acrobat Reader

University of Memphis centerfielder Drew Martinez has been named the starting leftfielder for the Eastern Division squad in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game to be held at Fenway Park, Wed., July 28, 2010. First pitch for the summer showcase is t set for 7 p.m. The CCBL All-Star Game will be televised live by CBS College Sports Network. The game will also be broadcast live on NPR radio.

Martinez, who was a 23rd round draft pick of the New York Mets in the MLB First Year Player Draft in June, has posted some of the Cape's best numbers in a standout summer for the Brewster Whitecaps. He leads the CCBL in hitting with a .333 batting average and is tied for second in the league in hits (40), runs (22) and stolen bases (20). In addition, he ranks third in the league with a .413 on-base percentage and has put together 14 multi-hit performances.

A Second Team All-C-USA selection in 2010 and a member of the 2009 C-USA All-Freshman Team, Martinez had solid sophomore season to help Memphis reach the C-USA Tournament for the first time since 2007. Martinez started in centerfield in all 58 games in 2010. He led Memphis and C-USA, while ranking 15th nationally with 98 hits. Martinez hit .377, while leading the Tigers and ranking among the top-10 in C-USA with 62 runs scored and five triples. In addition, he collected 41 RBI, stole 19 bases and legged out 10 doubles.
