MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Unplayable field conditions have forced the University of Memphis baseball team to postponed its annual fall Blue-Gray Game head coach Daron Schoenrock announced. The team will now play the scrimmage Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at FedExPark.

"With the number of injuries we have right now, we felt it wasn't smart to try to play today," said Schoenrock. "I'm looking forward to a very competitive game on Sunday as we close out the first 10 days of fall practice."

Schoenrock has been pleased with what he has seen from his club through the first week of fall workouts.

"I'm really excited with the work ethic of this team," he stated. "We have a number of guys who are rehabbing from surgeries and can't practice this fall that we plan on contributing significantly in the spring. The key focus and most significant thing now are for us to find depth to overcome those injuries.

The Memphis skipper has been especially pleased with the progress and development of his veteran pitching staff.

"Our pitchers are making significant progress learning a new system under Coach Corral," Schoenrock said. "Physically, they are further along than I expected at this point."
