MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Derrick Thomas had a home run and four RBI as the Blue team earned a 6-3 win over the Gray club in the annual Blue/Gray intrasquad scrimmage that took place on Saturday at FedExPark.

The Blue squad struck first in the scrimmage off a two-run home run by Thomas. Jacob Wilson lead off the bottom of the first with a double down the left field line and later stole third. With two outs in the frame, Thomas belted the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for the homer.

T.J. Rich hit a solo homer to right field in the top of the second to put the Gray team on the board. A towering, high fly ball sailed just beyond the right field fence for the run. The Gray club knotted the score at 2-2 with an RBI-single by Tucker Tubbs in the top of the third.

Fundamental baseball helped the Gray team to their first lead of the scrimmage in the top of the fifth. A one-out single by Zac Carter got the rally started and a well-executed sacrifice bunt move the runner into scoring position. Tucker Tubbs drove in Carter with a RBI-single up the middle to give the Gray squad a 3-2 lead.

The bottom of the sixth inning saw the Blue squad regain the lead with two runs in the inning. After back-to-back singles put runners on first and second, Zach Willis executed a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners into scoring position. Thomas grounded out to second, but a run scored on the play. With two outs in the inning and runners on the corners, Eli Hynes attempted to steal second and on the throw, Ford Wilson scampered home to score the go-ahead run.

Thomas added a fourth RBI of the game in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI-double to right center field. Willis scored on the play after a one-out triple to right field. A wild pitch allowed Thomas to score from second and gave the Blue team a 6-3 lead.

The Tigers will gear up for the annual Garibaldi's series that begins on Nov. 5 at FedExPark.
