Nov. 10, 2011
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis baseball head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Wednesday that Columbia State Community College freshman SS Jake Little has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the team for the 2012-13 season.
"Our coaching staff was very impressed with the progress Jake made to overcome an arm injury to become the dominant hitter and defender that he is today," Schoenrock said. "Jake has the potential to hit in the middle of our 2013 lineup and he plays the game with tremendous passion."
The Franklin (Tenn.) High School product was an All-District and All-District Tournament Team selection in 2011. The 6-foot-1 infielder hit .473 last season for the Rebels at Franklin High. Little had 10 home runs, 48 RBI and 32 extra-base hits. Little posted an impressive .991 slugging percentage and struck out just four times in 110 at-bats. In postseason play, Little was 10-for-21 (.476).
