Memphis will field a 2014 squad that features 11 newcomers. GoTigersGo.com introduces you to pitcher Trevor Sutton as part of the Around the Horn series of question and answers with newcomers.
Sutton is a freshman pitcher out of Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Question 1: Why did you choose to play for the Tigers?
Trevor: When I came on a visit, I fell in love with the campus. It was a great fit. The coaches were a great fit. We were going to this new conference and had a chance to win some rings, which is the ultimate goal.
Question 2: What's been the biggest adjustment you've had to make to the college game?
Trevor: Probably the strike zone number one. A lot of stuff you could get away with in high school, you can’t get away with anymore. All these guys can hit pretty well.
Question 3: Who's your favorite MLB player, and why?
Trevor: Right now I would say Justin Verlander because of the way he controls the game. That’s something I try to strive for as a pitcher. His mentality when he steps on the mound – that’s something I try to replicate as well.
Question 4: If you didn't play baseball, what sport would you choose to play and why?
Trevor: Probably football. My grandfather played football at the University of New Mexico. He always wanted me to play football but baseball was obviously something I just loved.

Trevor: Play golf or go fishing, something I did last summer a lot.

Question 9: Favorite walkup song?
Trevor: Last year I had “Smile Back” by Mac Miller so that’s what I might do again.

Trevor: If I’m starting, I usually set aside a time where I can just listen to music. I always have a set routine before I throw.
Question 11: What country would you most like to visit?
Trevor: Probably Germany. I’ve always wanted to go there.

Question 13: What's your favorite thing about Memphis?
