Nov. 15, 2013
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis head baseball coach Daron Schoenrock announced Friday that DeSoto Central High School left-handed pitcher Gary "Drew" Crosby signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Tigers in the 2015 season.
"Drew is another very projectable left-hander that has decided to continue his baseball career as a Tiger," Schoenrock said. "Drew has pitched in big moments in big games and we love his stuff and his competitiveness. He will fit in to our 2015 pitching staff very nicely and impact us very early in his career."
Crosby has lettered two seasons for the Jaguars under coach Mark Monaghan. In 2013, Crosby totaled five wins and 51 strikeouts in 48 innings on the mound to be named to the Commercial Appeal's Best of the Preps All-Metro Team.
Last season, Crosby helped DCHS to the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A North Half Championship game. Crosby had a standout performance in the second round of the playoffs, throwing a one-hit complete game against Clinton.
In 2013, Crosby played for Team Mississippi in the Junior Sunbelt Classic in Oklahoma, starting and winning two games for the team.
He is the son of Gary Crosby.
