Nov. 16, 2012
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Desoto Central High product Zach Schritenthal has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the University of Memphis baseball team in 2014, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Friday.
“Zach is a gifted infielder, possesses championship qualities and will be a great addition to our infield for the 2014 season,” Schoenrock said. “He will hit at a high level and has great in-game savvy that you look for in an infielder. We are thrilled he has decided to become a Tiger.”
Schritenthal played for coach Mark Monaghan at Desoto Central High in Southaven, Miss., and earned four letters on the diamond. Last season, the infielder was named to the All-State team after hitting .464 with 45 hits and 32 RBI. Along with that, he had an on-base percentage of .540 and his 45 hits set a single-season school record. Schritenthal was also named to the All-Metro team as part of the Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps.
Schritenthal is the third signee announced by Schoenrock for the 2014 class.
