MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Bartlett senior catcher Trey Turner signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Memphis, Tiger Head Coach Daron Schoenrock announced. Turner marks the third BHS product to sign with the Tigers in the early signing period.

"Trey possesses tremendous skills and leadership qualities necessary to be a top-flight catcher," Schoenrock said. "The junior season he had leading Bartlett to the State Championship, could not have happened for them without Trey's solid play behind the plate. We look for Trey to mature quickly, as we graduate two catchers off the '08 team."

Turner is a three-year letterman for BHS skipper Phil Clark. Known more for his defensive tools behind the plate, Turner showed that he was a multi-tool player with a solid junior campaign. The Bartlett backstop hit .330, drove in 27 and 21 runs to help the Panthers finished 40-5 and capture the Tennessee Class AAA State title. Turner also banged out six doubles, two homers and two triples on his way to garnering All-District and All-Region accolades.

Turner joins teammates, Heath Hatfield and Jacob Wilson, and Christian Brothers High school standout Drew Martinez, on Memphis 2007 signing class.
