Power-Hitting 1B/OF Kane Barrow Signs With Memphis
Nov. 21, 2012
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Jackson State Community College standout Kane Barrow has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the University of Memphis baseball program for the 2014 season, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Wednesday.
"Kane will add tremendous power to our 2014 lineup," Schoenrock said. "His athleticism will allow him to factor in at first base or in the outfield, depending on our needs, but we are thrilled with his ability to impact our lineup immediately. We are so glad that Kane decided to wear the Blue and Gray."
A 6-foot-3, 200-pount first baseman, Barrow hit .416 with 17 doubles, 12 home runs and 68 RBI last season at Jackson State Community College. Barrow had a big afternoon against Southwest CC last season going 6-for-8 with a home run, triple and three doubles to go along with eight RBI. Barrow earned All-American honorable mention last season while being a first team All-Conference selection.
Barrow is the sixth signee in the 2014 signing class.
"All of these guys have a chance to make an immediate impact on this team when they arrive on campus," assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Clay Greene said. "With the draft possibilities, it is always tricky to fill a class, but we have impact players in this class to help us. Coach Schoenrock always wants us to find the right fit and myself and (associate head coach) Fred Corral went out there and found what we believe will be impact players for this program."
