MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Ford Wilson, a dual-position standout at Independence High School in Franklin, Tenn., has signed with the University of Memphis, Tiger head baseball coach Daron Schoenrock announced today.

A three-year letterman for head coach Bill Moore at IHS, Wilson has seen time in centerfield and on the mound for the Eagles. A career .332 hitter, the 5-10 Wilson put together a solid junior campaign to help Independence High to District 11-AAA and Region 6-AAA championships in 2009. He hit .333 and scored 26 runs to guide the Eagles to a 28-10 mark and the school's first-ever Tennessee State Tournament appearance.

Wilson played summerball for the Franklin Outlaws, who were ranked as the No. 1 team in Tennessee and the No. 3 team in the Deep South Region by Perfect Game.
