Memphis 59, Southern Miss 57
Jan. 9, 2010
Reed Green Coliseum
Hattiesburg, Miss.

Elliot Williams secured a career-high 33 points against Southern Miss on Saturday night. Williams' point total is the best for the Tigers since Tyreke Evans scored 33 points against Missouri in the 2009 NCAA Tournament on Mar. 26, 2009

The sophomore guard scored 25 points in the first half on a career-high seven three-pointers and a career-high nine made field-goals. Williams mark of eight three-pointers is good for second all time among single season performances. Williams was just two three-pointers shy of tying Roburt Sallie's school-recourd 10 three-pointers against CSU Northridge last season in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Williams extended his career highs for three-pointers and field goals in the second half, finishing with eight three-pointers and 11 made field-goals

Memphis extended their Conference USA regular-season win streak to 50-consecutive games, tying the longest regular-season conference win-streak set by UCLA from 1970-74

Memphis also extended their overall Conference USA win streak, which includes wins in both regular-season games and Conference USA tournament games, to 62 games. The Tigers are just two wins shy of tying Kentucky's streak of 64 wins from 1945-50

Elliot Williams 25 first-half points was one point shy of Southern Miss' 26 points as a team in the first half. Williams scored 25 of Memphis' 41 first-half points Southern Miss began the second half on an 11 to one run in the first seven minutes

Memphis' 41 points in the first half is their second-best point total this season. The Tigers' best first half performance came against IUPUI where they scored 47 points in the first half

Southern Miss outscored Memphis, 31 to 18 in the second half. The 18 points is a season-low for the Tigers in a single period. Their previous low was 20 points in the first half against Kansas earlier this season
