  MEMPHIS HEAD COACH Josh Pastner

Opening Statement
"I am very proud of our guys for their play today. It was a good win and it counts on our official record. We are 13-4 now so I am glad. I thought LeMoyne-Owen is a good team and I have a lot of respect for them and their coach. I was proud of the way we bounced back after the loss to Connecticut. We still have one more non-conference game with Gonzaga and then more conference game left in the season.

"I thought Nick King gave us good minutes. He had 18 points and 5 rebounds. He was active and he made his free throws. I could not have asked more from him out there on the court. Shaq Goodwin had 10 points and eight rebounds.

"I thought Chris Crawford's pace was perfect today. When he plays like that, our team is so much better. I need that from him every game and that changes the whole complexion of our team when he has good pace.

"I thought Joe Jackson there towards the end of the game had perfect speed. I told Joe he should be the fastest guy in the country and play every possession with speed. "Geron Johnson had a great stat line. Twelve points, nine rebounds and seven assists out there for Geron.

"I thought he gave us great energy on the floor. Damien Wilson came in and gave us great minutes. I was very proud of Nick King for his play. Both Nick King and Kuran Iverson have great potential for our team and they showed it out there today."

On what the team can work on:
"We did not do to well on transition defense today, and we did not do to well on transition defense versus Connecticut. We will work on that in practice tomorrow and on some other things. We did not make our free throws. We shot 57 percent and hit the front end of a lot of one and ones. They had 19 offensive boards, and we had 16 turnovers. We still have a lot to work one and we will in practice over the next couple of days.

"I do love the stat of 29 assists on 38 made field goals. We have to treat every possession like it is our last. We cannot take any possession for granted. The pain and discipline of playing every possession so hard with great energy and passion is far less than the pain of regret. It is all about energy and it started early in the game today. I was proud of Austin Nichols in his play. He went 6-of-6 from the floor and ran the court all game."

  MEMPHIS FRESHMAN FORWARD/GUARD Nick King

On confidence from last game
"It is just a game to bounce back. It was a tough loss for the whole team. We just needed this to get our minds back on track."

On next week's game
"At the UConn game it was a mental thing. This game, we were more locked in because we were in desperation mode because we knew we had to win a game."

On freshmen playing
"We play together every day at practice; play against the first group. It was nothing to go out there and do what we do every day at practice. We go out there and work hard."

  MEMPHIS FRESHMAN FORWARD Austin Nichols

On game in general
"They played us pretty touch in the first half, but I think we got on top right there before halftime. We got the young kids in, the freshman. I think they had fun. It was a fun game to play."

On future team next season
"I have seen them play like that since June. When they have an opportunity to go out there an actually do it, they just have to do it."

On confidence for next week
"It gets us back to the basics. It boosts our confidence a little bit. We have always trusted our freshmen going in and producing and tonight they actually had a chance to go in. I was proud of them because they produced. We have to give credit to LeMoyne-Owen, they are a great team. It was just overall a fun game to play."

  MEMPHIS SENIOR GUARD GERON JOHNSON

On overall game
"It was Memphis guys out there, and I knew they were going to play hard regardless. I knew this wasn't going to be a walk in the park. They have a great coaching staff. It just so happen some shots fell down for us and we got points in transition. It was a good win; I wouldn't take it away for nothing."

On confidence level
"Getting a win like that it isn't really about getting confidence back. It is about getting your swagger back because you have to have swagger as a basketball player. It was getting us ready for Houston because we have to play them Saturday at home. I think it is going to be a nice crowd just like it always is, and we have to get back to the drawing board tomorrow."

On freshmen playing
"They are great talent, great potential. I think they were the second best recruiting class in the country. We have just seen some elite basketball players. The sky is the limit for them, and I can't wait to see them play wherever I end up."

On Johnson's playing
"Two turnovers, two too many. That is really what I am going into every game, trying to keep my turnovers down. I have to do better. Other than that, I think I did well defensively and no injuries so I can play Saturday."

  MEMPHIS FRESHMAN FORWARD/GUARD Kuran Iverson

On overall game
"It felt good to be on the court. Today coach told us to get minutes, so I think today was a good preview of me on the court. I have just been getting better on the court during practice. I just let everything come to me on the court."

On freshmen future
"Coach told me that this year is preparation for next year. Obviously I am looking forward to this year and next year. I think next year is going to be a really good year but right now I am focused on this year."

  LEMOYNE-OWEN HEAD COACH WILLIAM ANDERSON

Overall thoughts on the game
"We like playing a top-tier team like Memphis to see how we compete and execute in the things we work on in practice. For the most part, we did a good job in accomplishing that. We came out and played, and I think Memphis has a lot more depth than we do. When you get into substitution and the speed of the game, we did not do a good job in moving our feet and not using our hands. We had a lot of foul trouble early on in the game. I think it is the depth that Memphis had versus the depth that we have.

"I thought our big guys matched up pretty well offensively. We got some things going on inside that we liked. Memphis is a little stronger than we are and our guys need to get into the weight room and work on that. We have to get physically stronger in order to compete at a better level. We love to see the matchup between both Memphis and us. I think it was a win-win for both institutions out there today."
