Opening Statement
First of all, I want to give total credit to Tulane. That's an extremely well-coach basketball team. That's a good win to be able to beat a team like that. I thought our crowd was terrific. I have to give a lot of credit to them. They gave us a great lift and led the way. Our players stepped up to the challenge and came through. We really played good defense when we needed to. We held them under 30 percent from the field and from three in the second half. We won the game through defense.

On changing the pace late in the first half and into the second half
It's hard to set up our press if we're not making shots. We didn't really get our stuff going offensively until late in the first half. That first 10 minutes or so we were not effective offensively, which is a credit to Tulane. They're defense is good. They were controlling the tempo.

On the play of Chris Crawford
He was really good defensively. He had six assists and no turnovers. He hit some big threes and was at a very high level. Our team is much better when he's playing like that.

Tulane Head Coach Ed Conroy

On how well the Green Wave played in the first 15 minutes
I'm proud of the guys' effort, and I appreciate their enthusiasm. We did play well, but my message to our team is that we came up here to get the win. We're getting better, and we have to stay on that track of getting better. Our best basketball has to be ahead of us because tonight at the end of the day it wasn't good enough.

On getting the early lead
They are a very talented basketball team, and I thought both teams played really hard tonight. It was physical, and I thought we were the more physical team early. I thought there was a stretch there toward the end of the first half where they really started getting into us on cuts and under the basket. But then I thought we came out and re-established that a little bit in the second half, and then toward the end, maybe we wore down a bit, but for whatever reason we weren't able to go inside as much as we would like, and they started to get the inside scores.

On Tarik Black coming off the bench and weathering the storms
We kept fighting to the end. I thought we go some good looks there. If any of those go down Jordan [Callahan] gets the steal, and if that three goes down, we call timeout and get set, and we have a chance. But credit Memphis. We missed some shots around the basket late, and they converted all those into points in transition. We were able to keep them out of transition most of the night, but they are just lethal if you let them run the floor like that.

On consistency and potential in Conference USA
These guys are very coachable, and as we go through this we need to develop a little more depth. Guys that can play some more minutes in an environment like this, rest Ricky [Tarrant] and Josh Davis just a little bit. I am extremely proud of our guys and the effort they gave. This is a tough place to play, and they are a very talented team. I'm also happy this team can become a very, very good basketball team as we go through January and February.
