Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney

"We thought that the tournament was a success. We played well against Maine. We defended well and then had an opportunity to play against the third ranked team in the nation and maybe even the best team in the country. I think that we hung in there. We played with some confidence, and we played with grit. We hung in there and played tough. We wish that it could've gone a little bit longer, but I thought that we got a good account of ourselves."

On coming to the city of Memphis:
" Memphis is great, and it's a heck of a team that they have."

Thoughts on Derrick Rose:
"He's great. His fundamentals are so good. He's a great athlete and just excellent at every phase."

Turning point of the game:
" I don't think that we scored enough. Memphis is going to score a lot of points. We stopped them for awhile. We had opportunities to score, but they're going to keep putting up scores on the board. We got a couple of tough breaks; balls blocked. We just stopped scoring."

Memphis Head Coach John Calipari

"Well, first of all, they played well. We knew they would. There were some comments in their paper where they had players saying, `All summer we've been waiting on this game. Every weight room, ever run, has been driving us is this game'. What I said to our team was that this is every team we are going to play."

"So they come out with a zone, and we're tentative. I'm at a loss of words. It was my fault in that first half because we didn't post it. I came out in the second half and said we are throwing it in ever chance we can. Enough of this. That's not them. They are just learning to play against zone. I had to give them a little more direction."

"But in my mind the MVP is Andre Allen because it was 48-48 when I stuck him in. Then it was a 17 point bulge, and it was Andre. I took out Willie (Kemp), and I knew Willie was playing well. And I said Willie your not shutting out #5. The kid scored a basket off two of you. In the second half, he couldn't get a basket off Andre, and so Andre was the difference maker defensively that shut them down. "
