MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's basketball team used a late run to get past Christian Brothers University in an exhibition game Wednesday night, helping them post a 65-54 victory at FedExForum.

Tied at 54 with less than five minutes remaining, the Tigers scored the final 11 points of the game, including five from forward Tarik Black. After Pat Graham's fifth three-pointer of the game, Black answered with five straight points for Memphis to give them a 59-54 cushion with three minutes left. The Bucs could not put together another comeback, missing their last five shots of the game.

CBU led a majority of the first half as the Bucs, including a 28-26 halftime lead, scoring nine points off of Memphis' nine turnovers. In the first half, CBU had their largest lead of the game at 17-11 after two free throws from Sidy Sall at the 11:58 mark. However, the Tigers clawed back to tie it at 17 with three buckets in the paint at the 8:32 mark before a jumper by Sidy and a 3-pointer by Michael Drake pushed the Bucs lead back at five, 22-17, with just more than seven minutes remaining.

The Tigers tied up the game right before halftime with a jumper by Adonis Thomas, but a CBU basket with less than a minute remaining gave the Bucs an advantage going into the half.

In Memphis' first possession of the second half, the Tigers took their first lead since 14:34 mark in the first half with a trey from Thomas to give Memphis a 29-28 lead. The Tigers got their largest lead of the game at 11 midway through the second half before CBU cut it to 51-49 with 7:26 left after three straight triples. CBU knocked down their 10th three-pointer of the night to tie it at 54, but Memphis closed out the game on an 11-0 run.

Thomas and guard Joe Jackson led the Tigers with 14 points apiece while Black added 13. D.J. Stephens led Memphis in rebounding with seven boards. The Tigers shot 58.6% while the Bucs hit 46.5% of their shots.

Graham led CBU in scoring with 15 points, while forward Michael Drake chipped in 11 on 5-of-6 shooting.

Memphis will open the 2012-13 season, Monday, when the Tigers host North Florida at 6:30 p.m. at the FedExForum.
