MEMPHIS - University of Memphis senior guard Shyrone Chatman was named the Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday.

Chatman helped Memphis take sole possession of first place in Conference USA, averaging 16 points, five rebounds and 5.5 assists in the Tigers' two wins last week, including a 79-61 win over South Florida Sunday in a head-to-head showdown between the league's co-leaders.

The Baton Rouge native shot 53.3 percent from the field for the week, including 66.7 percent from the field against USF (4-of-6). He made 3-of-4 three-pointers against the Bulls, knocking down all three of his first-half attempts from behind the arc as the Tigers took a 17-point lead at intermission.

He joins junior forward Kelly Wise as the two Tigers to be named player of the Week this season by the league.

Chatman is averaging 9.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He leads the league in assist to turnover ratio (2.10) and three-point shooting percentage (46.5 percent).

Memphis, now 16-11 and 10-4 in Conference USA, closes out the year this week with games at Southern Mississippi on Wednesday and Saturday at Louisville.
