The 2007-08 college hoops season is just over two months away, but tickets for the year's opening event - 2K College Hoops Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer - go on sale Friday, Aug. 24 at 8:00 a.m. (CT), the Gazelle Group announced Thursday.
Memphis is one of the 2K College Hoops Classic regional sites with Connecticut, Kentucky and Oklahoma. The regionals are slated to be played Nov. 5-9 at each site. The Memphis regional is scheduled for Nov. 5-6 at FedExForum. The Memphis regional field will be announced at a later date.
For fans that purchased Memphis basketball season tickets, the Memphis regional games (two nights, four contests) are included in the Tigers' 18 regular-season package. Memphis also has one exhibition contest, giving the Tigers 19 home dates in 2007-08.
2K College Hoops Classic/Memphis regional tickets are extremely limited due to the tremendous sale of Tiger 2007-08 season packages. A small number of terrace level season tickets are still available for $100. If the Tigers win the Memphis regional, they would advance to the championship rounds at Madison Square Garden in New York City Nov. 15-16. A mail-out on how to purchase championship round tickets were sent to Memphis season ticket holders. Memphis returns five starters from the 2006-07 squad that posted a 33-4 record and an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance. The Tigers are ranked No. 1 in both ESPN.com and CBSSportsline.com summer polls.
