MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tiger Nation has been eagerly anticipating the start of the 2009-10 basketball season, and just over two weeks away, fans can see their Memphis men's and women's squads for the first time at Memphis Madness on Friday, Oct. 16 at FedExForum.

Festivities on the outdoor plaza of FedExForum start around 6 p.m. (CT), with the doors to open at 7 p.m. (CT). An autograph session is slated to begin when the doors open, and the night's program is scheduled to start at approximately 7:45 p.m. (CT).

"I can't tell you how excited the players and staff are for this night," said Tigers head coach Josh Pastner. "The veterans are telling the new guys about it, but I can say that whatever they tell them can't come close to the experience of being introduced with the fans' enthusiasm filling up FedExForum. It's a feeling I can't describe after going through my first Madness last year. It's amazing.

"As I've stated many times before, this is the University's and the city of Memphis' team, and we want to do our best to make you proud of your team. We're going to need our fans' support in a big way throughout this season, and this season starts with Memphis Madness. We want to see everyone there wearing the Blue and Gray and cheering on their Tigers."

More details, including a schedule of events, will be released as Memphis Madness draws closer. Fans can also keep up with the Countdown to Memphis Madness with the countdown clock at the bottom right column of the athletics web site (www.gotigersgo.com) front page.
