IRVING, Texas - Antonio Barton has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It is Barton's first weekly conference accolade.

In his collegiate debut, Barton netted a game-high 17 points on 5-of-6 field goals, 3-of-3 three-pointers and 4-of-6 free throws. Barton, one of two freshmen in Friday's starting lineup for the Tigers, also added five steals, four assists and three rebounds. The 6-foot-2 guard tied for team-high honors with his five steals and four assists. The Baltimore, Md., native played 23 minutes.

The Tigers, ranked No. 19 in the first regular season national polls released Monday, return to action at 11 p.m. (CT) Monday night when they host Miami (Fla.) at FedExForum. The game tips off ESPN's 24-hour marathon of college basketball.
