University of Memphis basketball coach John Calipari announced Sunday senior guard Marcus Moody will rejoin the team.

Moody missed practice Thursday and told Calipari he was leaving the team Friday prior to the Tigers leaving for their game at Arkansas.

"I met with Marcus tonight and he asked if he could rejoin the team," Calipari said. "After meeting with our players and coaching staff, I have come to the conclusion he could rejoin the team. He understands obviously that he will be starting at the bottom of the totem pole and will have to earn minutes back on the floor.

"We are all glad to have Marcus back." Moody will not travel to this week's game at Tennessee.

I was frustrated things were not going my way," Moody said. "My teammates and the city of Memphis have meant a lot to me. I just don't want to be remembered leaving on a sour note and as someone who quit this team. And I didn't want to let my teammates down. You are a Tiger for life."

The three-year letter winner is the second-leading scorer on this year's Memphis squad, averaging 8.2 points per game. He needs just 97 points to become the 35th player in Memphis history to score 1,000 career points.
