Dec. 12, 2013
Memphis, Tenn. – Less than a week after announcing the largest monetary gift in the history of Tiger athletics, University of Memphis athletic officials have reported yet another major gift to the department’s capital campaign.
“I am very proud to announce that our men’s basketball coach Josh Pastner has made a $250,000 donation to our capital campaign”, said Memphis Athletics Director Tom Bowen. “Josh’s gift is the largest ever made by a Memphis coach and will be used for sport enhancements and improvements.
“We are making great strides in building a culture of champions at the University of Memphis”, Bowen stated. “As part of our strategic plan, we are working to enhance programs and facilities for all our student-athletes and sports”.
Pastner’s gift of $250,000 will become part of the $40 million athletics capital campaign. Earlier this month, University officials announced that former Tiger basketball player Bill Laurie and his wife Nancy had given the athletic department a $10 million lead gift, the largest donation in the history of Tiger athletics. Further details on the capital campaign and other gifts will be announced in the coming weeks.
