Akeem Davis, LB, Redshirt Senior, Laurel, Miss.
"I'm antsy and ready to get out and start playing football. I'm ready to put our best foot forward and get better because we owe it to our University and our city, and most importantly I think we owe it to ourselves as a football team."
"The morale is always positive going into the season because we know we have the potential to be a good football team. We are blessed to have a coach such as Coach Fuente and to have his staff. I believe he has hired the right kind of guys to come along and come on board with him. They've done a great job at drawing a road map for us and showing us the road map; communicating the road map with us and putting it on our shoulders to drive. We are extremely confident in that. We're just ready to get out there and prove to our city and our University and most importantly ourselves that we are ready to be successful."
Jordan Devey, OL, Senior, American Fork, Utah
"I'm excited. All of us are really excited about it. Me personally, it's my last year. There's a lot of new components to the program. There's a lot of new energy that we have going into the season."
"The coaching staff has great chemistry. Them being able to get along as well as they do kind of translates to us as a team. We've had a lot of progress feeding off of their energy just in the spring. Now going into fall camp, it's the same deal. I wish I was a freshman and had four years left here."
"I'm really excited about the offensive line this year. We have a lot of guys returning that had a lot of playing time. Last year, we were a new offensive line, and people had a lot of doubts about us. This year we've got a lot of experience with Nick Chartain, A.J. Antonescu, Al Bond, Monte Golden, Chris Schuetz. We have a lot of guys, a lot of veterans with good experience. Last year I felt like we never had a good fit, a good mesh, but over the spring, I felt like the line really came together and even more so in the summer time. As an offensive line, I feel we have a lot to prove this season. I wouldn't go into battle with any other group of guys than what we have."
Zach Gholson, DL, Senior, Carlsbard, Calif.
"We finally get back into more football-oriented activities with the coaching staff out there. Getting back to practice is going to be a lot of fun. We are excited to see the new guys come out and see what they got. That is always a fun aspect of camp. I'm really just excited to go play football again."
"I think the first week is going to be a lot of fundamentals and lot of getting back into the basics of football which is always needed after you have a long break. After that we will start getting for UT Martin and start preparing for the season. I'm looking forward to it."
Charles Harris, LB, Sophomore, Memphis, Tenn.
"There's a lot of excitement around fall camp. There's a lot of excitement in the city as well as on the team. I know a lot of fans want to see what Coach Fuente and his new staff is able to do. We've been around him since December or January, so we're just really pumped up about it. Everybody really just wants to get into camp and be able to show what we can do."
Paulo Henriques, K, Senior, West Memphis, Ark.
"Going into this fall camp is a lot different than it has been in the past. There is a big time excitement in the actual team. We've really grown as a brotherhood. Besides football, our school pride is through the roof. We really want to--besides making ourselves proud--make the city proud and the fans proud and really get everybody back on the wagon for Memphis football. We have potential. It starts with us sticking together and fighting through the tough times. Adversity has been here the past three years. I really feel Coach Fuente and his staff and our strength coaches have taught us how to push through it."
"I definitely feel like Coach Fuente has come in here with a lot of enthusiasm. He's all about us. Coaching wise, there hasn't been a coach--high school, junior high, whatever--that's been all about us players. He's always encouraging us. Of course when we mess up, he's going to be there. But he's always there to pat you on the butt and tell you good job. He's a great coach."
Bakari Hollier, DB, Sophomore, Lafayette, La.
"I love the game of football a lot. Going into camp, I just can't wait to get out there and compete. (I look forward to) being around the coaches and just learning the game of football. Our coaches on the defensive side are a really good group of coaches. They want to play football just as much as we do. They coach us like we've never been coached before. They really do a good job at what they're doing. I really can't wait to get out there and play the game of football and just have fun."
Jacob Karam, QB, Junior, Friendswood, Texas
"We're going to go big. That is going to be our motto going into the season and going into camp. We're going to go big and not hold anything back. We worked really hard. We're going to focus on what we can control, and everything else will take care of itself."
Bobby McCain, DB, Sophomore, Oxford, Ala.
"After this spring and with all the enthusiasm and atmosphere change, you can feel the difference. You can feel something taking over Memphis. On the field with all the coaches, it is a totally different feel for us. Of course practice is going to be exciting, especially the first day. It is the ninth practice and 10th practice when you are wore down that you have to keep that same intensity which Coach Fuente does a great job with.
"For shorts and helmet days, you should be working on being fundamentally sound - all the little things. You are not making contact but you are going through all the motions of making sure you have technique right and you are running plays."
Tyriq Patrick, WR, Redshirt Freshman, Philadelphia, Miss.
"I'm excited because I'm not redshirting and will have an opportunity to play. I'm ready to do better than what we did last year. I'm ready to get on the field and make plays for my team. There's a lot of change in the growth of the team this year. I think there are a lot of guys that are ready to play and a lot of freshman ready to showcase their talent. The returning guys are ready to make a statement and make a move."
Cannon Smith, DB, Senior, Memphis, Tenn.
"I think everybody is really anxious. Everybody is excited. We have been running and lifting all summer in the heat. We are just ready to be back to playing some football. I think we are in really good shape, better than I have seen the guys since I have been around here. There is a lot of excitement going into this camp."
