'63 squad completed undefeated season as 14th ranked team in nation
A standout offensive tackle for the Tigers' 1963 undefeated team, Dick Quast played for the Memphis varsity football team for three years.
Through his quiet leadership, Quast helped lead his team to some of its most memorable games, including a 0-0 tie against Ole Miss in 1963. He was drafted in 1964 by the Baltimore Colts of the NFL and the Buffalo Bills of the AFL. He later played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
Following his professional career Quast entered the business world and served as vice-president of operations for Dentsply Midwest, a manufacturer of dental products. Quast's sons Brad and Kevin played football for the University of Iowa.
