Offensive guard Lou Esposito was hit in the lower back and had to be helped off the field and shortly thereafter, tight end Wade Smith ran into outside linebacker Greg Harper and both left the scrimmage, Smith with a neck injury and Harper with a knee. Sophomore fullback Darche Epting, who was also used as a tailback, led all rushers with 55 yards and one touchdown. His score came on a three yard run. Junior tailback Aaron Meadows gained 48 yards on 22 attempts and Jeff Sanders added 38 yards on 13 attempts.
