Scoreboard Construction on Track at Liberty Bowl
June 28, 2012
MEMPHIS - With the demolition phase completed, construction of new, LED scoreboards are underway at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The project, which will replace both the South and North end zone scoreboards, should be brought to conclusion by mid-August. The $2.5 million renovation project for the boards was made possible by a FedEx donation to the University of Memphis. The South end zone will feature a 98' x 48' state-of-the-art scoreboard with a new sound system located on the sides of the structure. The speakers and cap/or crown of the scoreboard will make the structure's actual size, 106' X 58'. According to available statistics, the board will be one of the top 10 largest scoreboards in the nation. The north end zone will also be updated with an LED board that will be 38' x 10' is size. The north board will also have full video capability and like the larger board, will offer fans a wide variety of game statistics.
Capturion Network of Laurel, Mississippi, will be responsible for the construction of the two boards, as well as the sound system, which will offer Memphis fans a new game experience.
