CHARLOTTE, N.C. - College Football Performance Awards has announced its 2013 Special Teams Awards Watch List, and two University of Memphis student-athletes earned spots on the list. Senior punter Tom Hornsey earned a spot on the 2013 CFPA Punt Trophy Watch List while junior Keiwone Malone earned a spot on the 2013 CFPA Punt Returner Trophy Watch List.

"Congratulations to Tom Hornsey and Keiwone Malone on earning spots on the 2013 CFPA Watch List," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. Hornsey is one of the nation's most talented punters, while Malone is a dangerous return specialist for the Tigers."

Hornsey begins his senior year as one of the nation's top players at his position and has a career 42.62 punting average. He has placed 72 of his punts inside opponents' 20-yard line during his career (31 percent) while 55 of his punts have been 50+ yards. Only eight of his 235 career punts have ended in the end zone for touchbacks.

He ranked second among active NCAA Bowl Subdivision punters in career punts and first in career punting yards (10,015).

Last year Hornsey ranked 19th nationally with a 43.43 yards per punt average. He placed 25 of his 60 punts inside opponents' 20-yard line (42 percent) including 15 inside opponents' 10.

Malone became the Tigers' fulltime punt returner in 2012 and for his career has 24 punt returns for 296 yards.

Last year the Memphis native ranked 17th nationally in punt return average at 11.86 yards per return. He had 22 returns for 261 yards including a career-long 57-yard return at UAB. He closed out his sophomore season with four punt returns against Southern Miss for 67 total yards.

In addition to his punt return responsibilities, Malone caught 44 passes for 476 yards and three touchdowns last year as a junior. He ranked second on the team in both receptions and receiving yards.

Earlier this summer junior defensive end Martin Ifedi was named to the CFPA Defensive Lineman Trophy Watch List.

Memphis opens the 2013 season Sept. 7 when the Tigers play host to Duke.
