Rivals.com has named Coach Larry Porter the Top Recruiter of the decade according to a story posted by Adam Gorney on their website this week.
Porter is No. 1 on the list of 10 Top Recruiters in a special commemorative series on 10 years of rankings. Porter earned the top billing while an assistant coach at LSU. Rivals.com twice (2007 and 2009) named him the Recruiter of the Year.
Porter was at LSU from 2005-09 before being named the 22nd head football coach at the University of Memphis on November 29, 2009. While at LSU, he coached running backs and was named the assistant head coach in 2006. The Rivals.com story touts Porter’s signing of the No. 7 player in the country in the class of 2009, and also his signing of multiple five-star players.

Coach Porter and his Memphis Tigers open the 2011 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 1, against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The game, which will be carried by Fox Sports Network (FSN), is set to kickoff at 7 p.m., at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
Season tickets are available online by CLICKING HERE. The Tigers host six home games this season, including the season opener against Mississippi State. In addition, fans can cheer on their hometown Tigers at the Liberty Bowl against Austin Peay (9/17), SMU (9/24; Homecoming), East Carolina (10/15), UAB (11/12) and Marshall (11/17). Tickets are $200 for prime seats and just $100 for all six contests in the fun zone.
