Get To Know The Tigers--Don Yanowsky

July 30, 2010

Don Yanowsky has a unique connection to head coach Larry Porter that no other member of the staff has. He has known Porter since the young running back was playing for the Tigers and Yanowsky was an assistant coach under Chuck Stobart. Yanowsky was coaching the offensive line, which Porter heavily relied on during his stellar career and his run through the Tiger record books.

Yanowsky and Porter later found themselves together as assistants at Arkansas State for the 1999 and 2000 seasons, and again at LSU in 2009. Yanowsky has over 20 years of coaching experience, and has coached in six bowl games. He joined Porter's staff following LSU's appearance in the 2010 CapitalOne Bowl and will guide the tight ends, as well as serving as the special teams coordinator.

Yanowsky sat down with Memphis Tiger Vision and spoke about his history with Coach Porter as well as his feelings on returning to Memphis. He also spoke about his favorite aspects of coaching and how much he enjoys spending time with his players outside of football.
