Gostkowski Is Featured Guest On WKNO's Sports Files
July 31, 2014
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Former University of Memphis football standout Stephen Gostkowski is the featured guest on this week's episode of WKNO's Sports Files with Greg Gaston that airs Thursday and Saturday, July 31 and Aug. 2.
Gostkowski talks with Gaston about playing in two Super Bowls (2008, 2012), what Patriots QB Tom Brady and New England head coach Bill Belichick are like away from the field, and him being an NFL rarity - an NFL draft pick as a place-kicker.
Gostkowski, the 2005 Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year, was a 2006 fourth-round NFL Draft pick by New England. During his collegiate career at Memphis, the Madison, Miss., native set school career records for points (369), field goals made (70) and PATs made (159), and those three records still stand. Gostkowski also earned All-C-USA first team honors in 2004 and 2005.
Entering his ninth season with the Patriots in 2014, Gostkowski is the most accurate kicker in New England history and one of the most accurate in NFL history. A two-time Pro Bowler in 2008 and 2013, Gostkowski is the first player in NFL history to score 1,000 points in his first eight seasons.
The show airs Thursday (July 31) at 8:30 p.m. (CT) and Saturday (Aug. 2) at 5:30 p.m. (CT) on WKNO/Channel 10. The show also can be seen Saturday at 4 p.m. (CT) on WKNO2 (Comcast Digital Cable Channel 910).
The show is taped at the new Digital Media Center at Cherry Farms Road and Goodlett Farms Parkway. The digital platform also allows the show to air in high definition.
