Tigers Ready to Open Camp

The University of Memphis is expected to have the NCAA-maximum of 105 student-athletes report Sunday ahead of the start to preseason camp. The Tigers will begin team practices on Monday at the Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex on the university’s Park Avenue Campus.
Memphis is scheduled to go through 24 practices during camp wrapping up with Fan Fest on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
Members of Memphis’ official booster group for football, the Highland Hundred, will have an opportunity to get a first-hand look at the team on Monday as guests of the program for the first workout on Monday. The general public is invited to attend next Tuesday’s practice.
Both Monday and Tuesday’s practices are slated for a 4:30 p.m. start with periods for stretch preceding. Both practices will take play at the Murphy Complex which is located near the intersection of Park and Getwell.
Tuesday’s open practice will be the only opportunity for the public to see the team on the practice field until the Tigers hold a mock game as part of Fan Fest on Aug. 23. Fan Fest will begin at 9 a.m. on Tiger Lane while the mock game is slated to kickoff at 11 a.m. at the Liberty Bowl. There will be an autograph/photo opportunity with players and coaches on the field following the game at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Memphis opens its season Aug. 30 when the Tigers play host to Austin Peay. Kickoff for the opener is slated for 6 p.m. in the Liberty Bowl.
Memphis has six home games this season including four league games as it begins its second season as a member of the American Athletic Conference.
