MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis had 27 first-year players report to camp Monday, marking the start of preseason at the U of M. In addition to moving into the residence hall, the rookies were fitted for equipment and had their first team meeting.

First-year players will practice for the first time on Tuesday and are expected to go through a pair of 1:30 drills.

The varsity will report on Thursday with Fan Fest slated for Friday evening in the Liberty Bowl. Memphis will begin full-squad practices on Saturday.

The Tigers' season opener is slated for Sept. 2 when the U of M plays host to Mississippi State in a nationally-televised game to be broadcast by Fox Sports.
