For the second straight day, the University of Memphis worked out in shoulder pads on Thursday as the first week of preseason camp continued on the Park Avenue Campus.

"That was a tough practice," said Memphis coach Justin Fuente. "We did some good things and we did some things we can't do. I think getting consistency is an important thing. You have to be able to do it day in and day out and build this program on a blue-collar mentality.

"I think there is a bunch of guys out here trying to do that," he said. "We just have to continue to show them the way."

Now the squad turns its focus to the first practice in full pads. Fuente said there would be few noticeable differences in the workout as the team continues to focus on fundamentals.

"It will be good to put full pads on tomorrow and come out here and wrestle around a little bit," he said. "We are just continuing to evaluate and we will see what happens. We won't bring guys to the ground much tomorrow. We won't do that unless we are scrimmaging."

The first week of practices concludes Saturday with the team's first set of multiple practices in a day. Access to workouts continues to be restricted.

Tickets are available for the Sept. 1 season opener against UT Martin and the 2012 season at www.GoTigersGo.com or by calling the Tigers Ticket Office at (901) 678-2331.
