Memphis, TN - Rip Scherer and his staff welcomed back the Memphis varsity football team on Thursday afternoon and now have 104 players in camp. A large number of the varsity have been in Memphis since July attending school and working out in individual groups. Early arrivals at South Hall this morning included quarterbacks Neil Suber and Travis Anglin, as well as running back Sugar Sanders, defensive tackles Jarvis Slaton and Calvin Lewis and linebacker DeMorrio Shank. During the lunch hour members of the media interviewed numerous Tiger players including Lou Esposito, Quincy Stephenson, Greg Harper, E.J. LeFlore and Bunkie Perkins. The team met with staff and administration from 2 PM until 5:30 PM and physicals for some varsity players will be given tonight at 7 PM at Murphy Athletic Complex. The freshmen took Thursday off for academic orientation. The combined squads will participate in FanFest 2000 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
