Practice No. 6 Photo Gallery

Saturday was a day of firsts for the University of Memphis football team.

The Tigers went through their first set of multiple practices. The team was on the field before 8 a.m. and came back for a 5 p.m. workout which included the squad's first scrimmage of the fall. Saturday evening's practice wrapped up the first week of preseason came as the Tigers moved to within three weeks of its season opener Sept. 1 against UT Martin.

First-year coach Justin Fuente said he couldn't form an opinion on Saturday's scrimmage before looking at video tape.

"There was some physical play out there, which is encouraging," he said. "The guys were dialed in and wanted to practice, but I don't know how good or bad it was."

Fuente said the focus continues to be on player evaluation

"We tried to do a couple things with a couple guys just to see what that they could do," he said. "We're trying to figure out offensively who are our guys, defensively who are our guys."

The Tigers will receive Sunday off from practice before returning to the field for a single practice Monday morning. The team is slated for two-a-days on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Individual game tickets, including the opener against UT Martin, along with season tickets are available for purchase at www.GoTigersGo.com or by calling the Tigers Ticket Office at (901) 678-2331.
