Memphis, TN -

The Tiger football team practiced twice on Tuesday but all thoughts were on Wednesday's sessions. The team will practice for the first time this fall in full gear on Wednesday and the staff is anxious for the change. "We have spent six workouts knocking off the rust and doing conditioning drills," said head coach Rip Scherer. "It is now time to put on the pads and get ready for the first game. "I don't think that conditioning has been a problem for the players this fall," Scherer stated. "The players have worked very hard this summer and Mike (strength coach Mike Stark) has the squad in great physical shape. That is why we have very little problem with cramping in this heat." Freshman defensive back Jamie Green of Texarkana, Texas, suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder and could be lost to the team for the remainder of the fall. He became the second freshman to be lost to the team during camp. Receiver Tavarious Davis suffered a torn ACL in his right knee this week and will be out for the season. Senior defensive end Tony Brown, who is expected to start for the Tigers this fall, suffered a hyperflex of his right knee and will be examined by team physicians this afternoon.
