MEMPHIS, TENN. - Coach Larry Porter announced Friday evening that senior running back Lance Smith is no longer a member of the Tiger football team.

"It is unfortunate that things did not work out for Lance here," said Porter. "We wish him well in his future."

Smith, who transferred to Memphis from Wisconsin, played in eight of the Tigers' 12 games last season. He totaled 149 yards and one touchdown on 46 carries in 2009.
