MEMPHIS, TENN. - Taylor Bradford, a member of the 2007 University of Memphis football team, was killed in a late night shooting that occurred on the Memphis campus. The incident happened at approximately 9:45 PM Sunday night near the Carpenter Complex, a residence hall located on Central Avenue near the northeast corner of campus.

"Our entire football team is deeply saddened by the loss of Taylor," said head coach Tommy West. "He was well respected and a popular member of our team. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

A native of Nashville, Tenn., and a graduate of Antioch High School, Bradford had transferred to the U of M in the fall of 2006 from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where he played for two seasons with the Bulldogs.

The ESPN-televised game between Memphis and Marshall University that was slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday evening will still be played as scheduled at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. A moment of silence will be held in Bradford's honor prior to the kickoff of the game.
