The following Q&A with defensive back Brandon Hunt was featured in the Tiger Gameday Program for the October 2 game with Marshall. It was written by athletic media relations intern Denise Thompson.

You have played both sides of the ball here at Memphis, which do you prefer and why?
I like defense better. The difference between the two is that on defense, I get a chance to make my own plays. In high school and junior college, I played defense and offense. When I arrived at Memphis I played offense, but this past spring I made the transition to defense. Coach Helton knew that I played both sides when I was in high school and junior college, so that helped.

You changed your number from 88 to 11 this year. Is there any significance in that?
No, I just wanted a smaller number. I originally wanted #1, but someone else had it. So, I took #11, because Larry Fitzgerald a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals has it.

What has been your favorite game at Memphis? Why?
The Motor City Bowl in 2005. I had just arrived here and had never experienced anything like it before and I had a lot of fun.

Why did you choose Memphis?
I chose Memphis so that my family could watch me play and I wanted my nieces to be able to come. Memphis had a full receiver set at the time and they had DeAngelo, so I knew that the team would get a lot of publicity. I also chose Memphis because Coach Helton was a good recruiter. Even though I went to school in Southaven, I am actually from Memphis. I would make the half hour drive to school everyday, because I didn't want to go to the high school by me.

Who or what is your inspiration for playing football?
My uncle is my inspiration. When he was younger, he was good in football and I looked up to him. He had a full scholarship to play football at Florida, but decided not to go to school. So ever since then, he has been pushing me.

What's on your Ipod? What's the last song you heard?
I have the new Young Joc and 50 Cent on my Ipod. The last song I listened to in the car was Fabulous' song, "Make me better.

Besides football, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to relax and sleep. I stay to myself a lot. I also like to hang out with my twin nieces, Ashley and Angela, and take them to the zoo.

What do you want people to know about you?
I guess I want people to know that I'm a caring person, a people person and that I'm fun to be around. I like to joke a lot. I probably come of as cocky and arrogant to some people, but I'm not, I'm just confident.

If I asked your teammates about you, what would they say?
My teammates would say that I'm a good person to be around and that I'm the funniest person they know. I keep them laughing all day long. I always have jokes to tell and there is never a dull moment when I'm around.
