Hornsey Receives Midyear Recognition from CBSSports.com

University of Memphis senior punter Tom Hornsey has been named to the 2013 midseason college football All-America Team as voted on by the staff and writers from CBSSports.com.
Hornsey, a candidate for the Ray Guy Award which is annually presented to the nation's top collegiate punter, enters the week averaging 47.0 yards per punt which ranks third in the latest FBS punting rankings. As a team, Memphis leads the nation in net punting at 45.13 yards.
Opponents have returned only nine Memphis punts this season for a total of 25 yards.
Hornsey has had 10 punts downed inside opponents' 20-yard line including three inside opponents' 10. The Geelong, Australia, native has only had one punt go into the end zone for a touchback this season and three in the past two seasons combined.
Through the first half of the season, Hornsey has 10 punts of 50 yards or more including a season-long 79-yarder.
Memphis, 1-4 on the season, will look to earn its first American Athletic Conference win on Saturday when the Tigers play host to SMU. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
