MEMPHIS, TENN. -
University of Memphis senior punter Matt Reagan has been named a third-team selection on the Associated Press All-America Team as released by the media organization Tuesday.
Reagan is Memphis' first AP All-America honoree since DeAngelo Williams was a second-team pick in 2005. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Reagan is a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers who served as a placekicker and added punting duties for the first time this past season. Reagan has received several honors this season, including second-team All-Conference USA and All-Academic by the league office.
In his first season as the Tigers' punter, Reagan was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented to the nation's top punter. He is second in C-USA and ranks third nationally in punting average (45.5). Reagan handled all but one punt this season and totaled 19 kicks over 50 yards and dropped 26 inside the opponent's 20-yard line. He was also 31-of-33 on PATs and was second on the team with 64 points. Reagan was named the squad's Special Teams Player of the Year, along with long snapper Keenan Bratcher.
Reagan holds a 3.85 grade point average while working on a major in Earth science and a minor in mathematics. He intends to attend graduate school in meteorology upon earning his degree from the U of M. Reagan was a candidate for the Lowe's Senior Class Award and also earned two academic honors last spring from the English and Geography departments. In November, he was announced as a second-team pick for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honor.
