Memphis Football Arrives in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The University of Memphis football team left the cold and icy conditions of Memphis behind and arrived to 78 degree temperatures in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers, competing in their fifth bowl game in six years, will face South Florida on Saturday, December 20, in the magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl. The game will take place at Tropicana Field at 4:30 p.m. EST and will be televised live on ESPN2.
Bowl festivities in St. Petersburg begin on Wednesday as both teams participate in the Player Beach Bash at the TradeWinds Island Resort from 3-6 p.m. The event that is open to the public will feature a team talent show, Sexy Legs Contest, a giant sand sculpture photo opportunity, a tailgate cookout and a giant beachfront water slide.
The Memphis Alumni Association also announced its True Blue Pep Rally to be held on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. (EST). The event will be in Lot 7 at Tropicana Field adjacent to the Tailgate Extravaganza and Fan Fest.
