MEMPHIS, TENN. - Junior college teammates Alphonso Bruton and Dejarrius Adams have signed National Letters of Intent with the Memphis Tigers as announced by head coach Larry Porter on Wednesday. Both will enroll at the U of M in January and will participate in practice this spring. High school and junior college teammates, Bruton and Adams both played the 2007 and 2008 seasons at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif., for coach John Featherstone. A 6-3, 225-pound linebacker, Bruton played in 11 games in his two seasons and totaled 23 tackles. In 2008, he also registered a pass breakup, a blocked kick and a safety. Bruton was a team captain in 2008 and led his squad to a 10-2 record. As a sophomore against Long Beach City, Bruton blocked a punt, recovered the loose ball and then made a 10-yard return for a touchdown. A native of Miami, Fla., Bruton prepped at Miami Killian High School. He was a third-team All-Dade honoree in 2006 and was invited to participate in the 10th annual Nike South Florida All-Star Football game following his senior season. Adams signed with the Tigers in February 2009, but remained at El Camino this past fall to complete graduation requirements. A 6-2, 205-pound receiver, Adams played in nine games in 2008 and totaled 325 yards and two touchdowns on 25 receptions. Against Bakersfield, he led the squad with eight catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Adams also hauled in three receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown against Canyons College in the second round of the SoCal playoffs. Adams also prepped at Killian in Miami, Fla., and was named All-Dade 6A-4A third team as a senior defensive back by the Miami Herald. The Tigers currently have two other players on the squad from El Camino - defensive lineman Justin Thompson and running back Gregory Ray.
