University of Memphis football coach Justin Fuente announced Wednesday the Tigers have signed two student-athletes to either National Letters of Intent or financial aid agreements and those players are expected to enroll for the 2014 spring semester.

Signing with Memphis were Los Angeles Pierce College tight end Tyler Kolodny and linebacker Noah Robinson, who played the 2013 season for the Atlanta Sports Academy after completing his high school career at Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester, Mass.

After a seven-season professional baseball career, Koldny (6-3, 245) enrolled at Pierce College where this season he caught 27 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns. He was named to the Southern California Association American Division 2013 All-Pacific Conference Football First-Team. Kolodny closed out his career with back-to-back, 100-yard receiving games. He had seven catches for 119 yards including a 50-yard touchdown reception in an American Division Bowl win over Chaffey to end the year.

Kolodny was selected in the 16th round of the 2007 MLB Amateur Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Over his seven seasons playing professional baseball he batted .245. The fielder played in 369 professional games, finishing his career with 45 home runs, 12 triples and 68 doubles.

Robinson (6-4, 235) played one season of prep football at the Atlanta Sports Academy where he registered 88 tackles including 4.5 quarterback sacks in 2013. He also had an interception, forced two fumbles, recovered four fumbles, was credited with 39 quarterback hurries and blocked three point-after tries during the year.

As a senior at Doherty Memorial High School in 2012, he registered 125 tackles and five quarterback sacks as the Highlanders reached the MIAA Division 2 Central semifinals. He also caught 24 passes for 516 yards and seven touchdowns. Robinson was named the Central Massachusetts Defensive Most Valuable Player.

The period to sign midyear junior college transfers to a National Letter of Intent runs through Jan. 15, 2014. The regular NLI signing period begins Feb. 5, 2014.
