Fuente Adds Anthony Brown to 2012 Roster

MEMPHIS, TENN. - One day after signing four standouts on the first day of the Mid-Year/Junior College signing period, University of Memphis head coach Justin Fuente announced that defensive end Anthony Brown has inked a National Letter of Intent to play for the Tigers in 2012. The signing period runs through January 15, 2012.
A native of Cairo, Ga., Brown joins the Memphis squad from Northeast Mississippi Community College where he lettered two seasons. He posted 56 tackles, including 36 solo stops, in 2011 and helped his team to a 6-4 record. He was credited with 10 tackles for loss, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery. Brown led the squad with 10 tackles against Itawamba Community College in 2011. As a freshman, Brown totaled 81 tackles, 52 of which were solos, while also forcing three fumbles and registering two pass breakups. Brown prepped at Cairo High, where he helped his squad to a 9-4 record and a runner up title in the state championship in 2009.
Brown joins tight end Jesse Milleson (6-4, 255), offensive lineman MarKeith Minnick (6-5, 290), linebacker Bronterrious Jakes (6-0, 225) and safety Fritz Etienne (6-2, 210), who signed with the Tigers on Wednesday. Brown, Etienne and Milleson will be juniors for the 2012 campaign, while Minnick will be a freshman and Jakes will be a sophomore. All five players are slated to enroll at the U of M in January, and are eligible to practice this spring.
