Men's Golf Finishes 11th at SunTrust Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Memphis men's golf team finished 11th in their first spring tournament with a 54-hole score of 868 (+28) after carding a 10-over-par 290 in the final round at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. Grant Milner led the Tigers with a 216 (+6) after a third-round 4-over-par 74 to tie for 25th. Will Pearson and Thomas Perrot tied for 33rd with 217 as Pearson moved up in the leaderboard in the final round with a 1-under-par 69, while Perrot fired a 74. Cory Gaylord was not far behind, shooting 218 with a 73 in the third round to tie for 37th. Rounding out the Memphis squad was Lexus Keoninh, who tied for 69th with a 218 total after a 74 in the final round. No. 23 Florida State took the title with an 8-under-par 832 while No. 34 North Florida was 15 strokes back with an 847. South Alabama claimed third with an 850, one stroke in front of No. 3 Florida. No. 47 UCF rounded out the top five with an 859. Memphis will return to the links on Feb. 18-19 when the Tigers travel to Mobile, Ala., for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
