MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of Memphis golf team posted a 36-hole total of 598 (+22) on day one of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course. The Tigers are currently in ninth place after turning in scores of 301-297 in the first two rounds and find themselves just eight strokes out of second place. Middle Tennessee leads the pack with a 36-hole total of 581 (+5), and Charlotte is nine strokes back in second at 590 (+14). "We didn't play well today," University of Memphis head coach Grant Robbins said. "But, we have a chance to move up tomorrow with a good round." Steve Lee set the pace for the Tigers with rounds of 73-75 to grab a share of 17th place individually. Jack Belote and Jonathan Fly, playing the one and two spots for Memphis, are tied for 22nd position after turning in 36-hole totals of 149. Grant Milner (77-75--152) and Carlson Cox (81-75--156) are in 42nd and 59th, respectively. "We have been playing well, so we just have to come out with the right mindset tomorrow," Robbins said. "We just need to play one shot at a time, and the results will take care of themselves." The Mobile Bay Intercollegiate finishes tomorrow with the Tigers teeing off between 8 and 8:50 a.m. off number one. Live scoring is available via www.golfstat.com.
