ORLANDO, Fla. - Brandon Bunn fired a second consecutive 73 to lead the University of Memphis golf team to a tie for 17th place finish at the Rio Pinar Invitational. The tournament was held at the Rio Pinar Invitational, with UCF serving as the tournament's host school.

Bunn's Final Round 73 gave him a three-round total of 220, good for a tie for 27th. Mark Trow shot 78 in the final round, leaving him in a tie for 46th. Jordan Payne improved in the final round, turning in a 74 to move up into a tie for 79th. Brad Benjamin also shot 73 in the final round, and Jeff Hall carded a 77. The two finished in 85th and 102nd, respectively.

"It was a disappointing tournament," said Memphis head coach Grant Robbins. "I was really hoping we could have a good round today and get some momentum going in to the rest of the spring, but no one really got anything going. At this level you have to have guys shoot under par, and we have yet to find someone who can do that for us on a consistent basis. We will make some changes to the lineup and get ready for Lafayette."

UCF held on to its lead in the final round, shooting a team total of 280 to secure the title. Their three-round team total of 851 (294-277-280) was 15 shots ahead of second place finisher, UT-Arlington's total of 865 (290-287-288). UCF was the only team to finish under-par in the tournament.

Blayne Barber of UCF was also able to hold ont o his lead in the individual competition. Barber fired a three-under-par 69 in the final round to beat Bobby Massa of UT-Arlington by two shots. The Tigers next compete March 9 in the Louisiana Classics hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.
