No. 37 @MemphisMGolf Shoots 10-Under in Final round of USF Invitational

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Memphis men’s golf team completed action at the USF Invitational Tuesday afternoon, shooting the fourth best round of the day, a 10-under 278 stroke performance. The Tigers finished with a score of 844 through the 54 holes at the USF Invitational, giving them a seventh place finish in the field of 17 teams.
The score of 844 is the second best 54-hole score of the season for the team and 5th best in program history. The tournament feature numerous low scoring rounds, with the host No. 33 USF Bulls shooting 19-under on Monday and No. 20 Florida State shooting 24-under on Tuesday to push themselves to a 41-under for the tournament and secure the victory by 10 strokes over USF.
Will Pearson shot a 3-under 69 on Tuesday, giving him a 9-under 207 for the tournament. The 207 is the best 54 holes put together this season by a member of the team and ranks tied for the No. 8 spot in program history, with the last golfer to shoot 207 being Jonathan Fly at the UK Bluegrass Invitational during the 2009-10 season.
Lars Van Meijel led the Tigers Tuesday with a four-under 68, giving him 211 on the tournament and placing him tied for 16th. Cory Gaylord shot an even 72, giving him 213 at the invitational and putting him tied for 22nd. Erwan Vieilledent shot a 3-under 69 and finished one stroke behind Gaylord at 214, putting him tied for 31st place. Thomas Perrot put his best round of the tournament in on Tuesday, shooting an even 72. He finished the USF Invitational with 224 strokes and tied for 79th.
The Tigers will head to Auburn, Ala. next weekend for the Auburn Tiger Shootout from Monday, March 10 to Tuesday, March 11 . Memphis outshot No. 23 Auburn at the USF Invitational, with Auburn finishing in 8th place, five strokes behind Memphis.
